Mälarhöjdens ice skating society was originally formed solely for the purpose of speed skating. In recent years figure skating and in particular precision skating has been added to the club's activites.

We encourage you to try your hand at speed skating. It does not matter whether you have skated before or not, you are welcome to come and borrow a pair of speed skates and discover the pleasures of speed skating.

The society has two precision skating teams within its figure skating section. These are Grand Diamonds and Ice Diamonds. The team Grand Diamonds competes at the adult level. More information about this team can be found by visiting The Grand Diamonds Home Page.

• Swedish championships in team skating 1995 (in Borås), placed 7th

Skating opportunities

Speed skating takes place at Östermalms Idrottsplats (Östermalms sports ground) in Stockholm. The grounds are situated behind the old Olympics stadium known as Stadion. The entrance to the grounds is on Fiskartorpsvägen which is off Lidingövägen. The nearest underground station to the sports ground is the station called Stadion. We skate there once a week and, when there are no competitions, at weekends as well.

As far as precision skating goes, Ice Diamonds train twice a week at Johanneshovs Isstadion (or sometimes Spånga ice rink), and Grand Diamonds once a week at Östermalms Idrottsplats. Each team welcomes new members. To be able to enter the senior team you should be between the ages of 15 and 28 and be able to skate competently at high speed and of course in time to the music and the other skaters. The demands on skaters entering at the adult level are somewhat lower. You should be over the age of 25 and able to skate forwards and backwards at a reasonable speed without difficulty.
